Meet this Year’s Judges

 In Judges

Tonya Lewis Lee
As a busy mom, Tonya Lewis Lee knows firsthand the challenges of navigating work, family, and wellness. Her professional journey into health and wellness began in 2007 when she began serving as the national spokesperson for the “A Healthy Baby Begins with You” campaign initiated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health (OMH) to raise awareness about the infant mortality crisis in the United States. Through the campaign Lewis Lee helped to create and launch a peer-to-peer preconception health initiative encouraging college students to focus on their personal health, if not for themselves, for their future children.

Additionally, she produced “Crisis in the Crib: Saving Our Nation’s Babies,” a documentary film about the efforts to reduce the U.S. infant mortality rate. Further, eager to create a women’s health platform, Lewis Lee launched the website HealthyYouNow.com (HYN).

Outspoken on the issues of women and race, Lee has appeared on national and local television and radio across the country. She has also been featured in The New York Times, Avenue, Town and Country, New York Magazine, O, Essence, Ebony, Redbook, Child and New York Family Magazine. Lewis Lee graduated from Sarah Lawrence College and the University of Virginia School of Law and lives in New York City with her two children and her husband Spike Lee.

Manuel & Bud Santos
Meet Bud and Manuel aka @TwoGayPapas, the creators of Nursery Rhymes for LGBT Families, and the proud fathers of two amazing children born through surrogacy, Álvaro (3) and Carmen (2). They wanted to help create awareness and change prejudices about family diversity, so they decided to give visibility of their family model through social media, and now have a massive following. As you will see on their Facebook or Instagram pages, they are just like any other family, the kids are growing up happy and healthy, and for them it is normal to have two fathers, just like it is normal for other children to have a mother and a father, or two mothers, or just one father, etc. Manuel works in audiovisual production and Bud works in marketing and we live in a small town outside of Valencia, Spain.
